As you will be aware a new national Paramedic job description has been produced as part of the Band 6 pay agreement for paramedics. As part of this agreement the Trust is now required to collect information on the qualifications of all Paramedics working in the Band 6 role and to understand their qualification leading to registration and capture any relevant additional learning which individual paramedics may have undertaken.
The Trust will be sending out, in early January, a self-assessment questionnaire to all Band 6 Paramedics to identify and prioritise individual development needs against the new Band 6 Job Description.
This information will be collated and a Training Needs Analysis will be formulated. From April the Trust will then run Continuing Professional Development Courses for Paramedics according to the Training Needs Analysis which individuals will have 2 years to undertake and complete.
We would like to reassure all Paramedics that this process is not about pushing all existing Paramedics to undertake Degree education. Existing Paramedics are already HCPC registered and development will be focussed on supporting individual members of staff to meet the full demands of the new job description.
